Registered Retirement Funds

Golf Canada Foundation can help offset estate tax liabilities

Naming Golf Canada Foundation as a direct beneficiary of Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs) and Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIFs) allows you to make a substantial gift in the future without diminishing your assets today. It costs nothing now, yet in addition to saving for your future, donating a portion, or all, of RRSP or RRIF plans can create your legacy in golf across the country.

What are the benefits of giving registered retirement plans?

  • Your gift can be kept private, as these types of gifts are not part of your Will.
  • As is the case with a gift through your Will, you have the flexibility to change the beneficiary at any time, as circumstances dictate.
  • The balance of your retirement fund is not included in probate.
  • Generate a charitable tax receipt of 100% of your gift to offset taxes that become due in the year of death, when the remaining funds in most RRSPs/ RRIFs become fully taxable as income.

Create your legacy

To ensure that your particular needs are met and that your wishes are honoured, you should consult your financial advisors.

Please contact Golf Canada Foundation to let us know about your intentions. Not only can we assist you in making sure things move along smoothly, we can discuss how you would like the proceeds from your gift be put to use. It is also important for us to know whether you wish to be recognized for your contribution or prefer to remain anonymous.

If you have made arrangements to make a planned gift to Golf Canada Foundation, we request that you send us a completed Statement of Intent (PDF) so that we may ensure proper administration of your gift.

How to arrange a gift of RRSP/RIFF to Golf Canada Foundation:

Fill out the beneficiary designation clause of your RRSPs and RRIFs, using the legal name “The Governing Council of Golf Canada Foundation”. Our Canadian charitable registration number is: #126408129RR0001.

How to make an immediate as well as a future impact:

If you find that you do not need the required annual withdrawal from your RRIF, you may consider donating this annual amount to Golf Canada Foundation to offset your taxes.
