Charitable Gift of Annuity

A charitable gift of annuity is a contract between a donor and a charity with a specific set of terms. A donor makes a sizeable contribution to a charity using cash, securities or other possible assets. The entire amount of the gift is set aside in a reserve account and invested. Based on your age at the time of the gift, you receive a fixed payout, often monthly or quarterly, supported by the investment account for the rest of your life. At the end of your life, the charity receives the balance of the gift.
What are the benefits?
Due to their structure, charitable gift annuity rates typically provide a higher return than other investments. They allow you to give immediate support to Golf Canada Foundation while ensuring a secure income stream for your lifetime. Additionally, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the gift portion of the payment.
Example of how a charitable gift annuity for an 80-year-old works:
Anne made a donation of $75,000, creating annual payments to her of $3,951, guaranteed for life. Also, $25,000 of the funds became the gift-portion and the amount of her charitable tax receipt.
